NYT - Wheat People vs. Rice People: Why Are Some Cultures More Individualistic Than Others?

A very interesting opinion piece that focuses on how individuals work, whether autonomously or as a community, based on the product to be delivered to the market. In my opinion, it suggests that focusing purely on the generalization and 'surface' level behaviour of culture is insufficient and that more investigation is required in understanding the interdependent relationship between the working network, and its influence on the wider network including the familial and societal. Worthwhile reading!
